Image cropping and resizing tool in CMS

There is an image cropping and resizing tool included in the Rich Text Editor (RTE) within the CMS. Access this feature via:

"Insert/Edit image" --> "Resources Browser" --> "Edit Image"

This tool may come in handy for simple, occasional use - especially when you are not working on your usual computer and don't have access to all of your software. However, it is not really a robust replacement for proper image conversion software, and it isn't recommended as such.

Automated Image Resize Feature - "DirectResize"

This is an optional add-on feature for the CMS. Manager users simply:

  1. Upload a large-ish (unresized) image via "Insert/Edit image"  --> "Resources Browser"  .
  2. Click on the Appearance tab.
  3. Make sure the Constrain proportions box is checked.
  4. Enter a new width for the image in pixels in the Dimensions (first) input box and press enter.
  5. Click on the Update button (if editing an image) or the Insert button (if inserting a new image).

When the web page is viewed, a resized/resampled and compressed version of the image is automatically created and this small version is subsequently displayed in place of the original. The original, large, uncompressed version will be left intact so that it can be resized again in future, without any loss of quality.
